In response to conservatives’ anger over his snide remarks about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former President Trump said he voted for DeSantis.
On Monday, Trump stated that he hopes DeSantis will be re-elected on Tuesday, adding that he has “always had a very excellent relationship with him” despite their recent public spats.
The former president and his wife, Melania Trump, voted in Palm Beach, Florida, with the expectation that Republicans would have a successful election.
I anticipate a fun evening for us. This is the best thing for the country. To be here is a great privilege. Outside the polling site, Trump said, “They’ve done a tremendous job, but I think we’re going to have a huge night, and it’s going to be very exciting.”
Moreover, he told the press he thinks the Republicans will take over Congress and use their newfound power to “keep taxes down” and crack down on the nation’s persistent crime issue.
On many occasions, Trump has dropped hints that he’s seriously considering a presidential candidacy in 2024.
In a week, the nation may have an answer.
After casting his ballot, he told reporters that Election Day would “be inspiring for many people.”
DeSantis’s name has also been bandied around as a possible presidential candidate in the next two years, but he has said nothing to dispel the speculation.
In addition, there is a widespread belief that DeSantis would wait until Trump’s retirement in 2028 before running for office himself.
