Police are investigating an explosion that injured at least 15 people, three of them critically, at a restaurant in Mississauga, Canada, late Thursday night.
Authorities said they believe an improvised explosive device was detonated inside the Bombay Bhel restaurant, an Indian eatery located near Hurontario Street and Eglinton Avenue, according to multiple news reports. Police first responded to the incident around 10:30 p.m. local time.
Peel Regional Police say two suspects entered the Bombay Bhel restaurant and detonated the device.
Police have asked for the public’s help in identifying two possible suspects they say fled the scene immediately after the explosion.
“Two parties fled the scene immediately after the incident. 1st described as male, 5’10-6feet, stocky build, mid-20s, light skin, wearing dark blue jeans, dark zip-up hoodie pulled overhead, baseball cap with light grey peak, face covered with black cloth material.”
“2nd male described as 5’9”-5’10”, fair skin, thin build, faded blue jeans, dark zip-up hoodie hood pulled overhead, grey t-shirt, dark colored skate shoes, face covered. Looking for public’s assistance in identifying the parties that fled following the explosion.”
Const. Iryna Yashnyk told reporters early Friday that the call was for an explosion.
“So far we have the plaza sealed off and we’re investigating,” Yashnyk said.
A Peel Paramedics spokesperson told Global News three patients were taken to a Toronto trauma center in critical condition.
Multiple patients were set to be transported to local hospitals with minor, “trauma” injuries. Some of the injuries were superficial, paramedics said.

At least three people in critical condition were taken to Toronto’s Sunnybrook Hospital, the Peel Regional Paramedic Service said in a tweet.
