While taking part in an interview on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” this past Monday, Kyle Rittenhouse officially announced a new project called “The Media Accountability Project” which is a group that will be utilized in efforts to hold “members of the media accountable” for the spreading of lies and any defamation similar to what Rittenhouse went through before, during, and after his trial held back in 2021 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. In that trial, Rittenhouse was found not guilty on all counts after he was slammed with the murder charges of two men who died during a 2020 riot.
“So for over a year, media outlets in this country lied about Kyle Rittenhouse in an effort to have put behind bars for the rest of his life. They called him a white supremacist, which he is not. They told us he crossed state lines with an AR-15, which he did not, and therefore he was a terrorist,” explained Carlson directly before highlighting a montage of MSNBC guests such as Reverend Al Sharpton and many, many others hurling accusations at Rittenhouse of him being the embodiment of white supremacy.
“White supremacy – no one he shot was not white, everyone involved in the story was white, of course, but it’s white supremacy,” stated Carlson sarcastically. “They’re lying to put the kid in prison for the rest of his life. What they just told you there are lies. Rittenhouse’s mother didn’t drive him across state lines with an AR-15; he borrowed the gun from a friend in Wisconsin. He lived about 15 minutes from Wisconsin. He worked in Wisconsin. So, the question is, after a full year of watching these people lie in order to imprison a kid for the rest of his, who’s going to hold the liars accountable?” questioned Carlson before bringing out Rittenhouse.
“Kyle, thank you so much for coming on tonight. I can’t think of many people who’ve been at the receiving end of this much sinister lying from so-called news organizations as you have. How are you going to respond?” asked the host.
“Well Tucker thank you for having me,” responded Rittenhouse. “Me and my team have decided to launch the ‘Media Accountability Project’ as a tool to help fundraise and hold the media accountable for the lies they said and deal with them in court.”
“Interesting, so the idea is — maybe like the Covington Catholic kids — you will be suing news organizations that maliciously lie about people who are in the news?” posited Carlson.
“Yes, sir. We’re going to be holding them accountable, Tucker.” answered Rittenhouse.
“I guess I have to ask kind of a dumb question, why isn’t there a group like this that exists already since the media so often not observers, they’re players, they’re participants in the news? Why hasn’t somebody done this before?” asked the host.
“That’s a good question, Tucker, and I’m not sure, to be honest,” responded
Rittenhouse. “But I don’t want to see anybody else have to deal with what I went through, so I want to hold them accountable for what they did to me, so I don’t want to see anybody else have to go through what I went through.”
