The Russian strike was officially confirmed via Telegram by the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“The channels will not work for a while,” stated the ministry in its release. “The backup broadcasting of some channels will be enabled in the near future.”
“Earlier on Tuesday, the Russian military warned that it would carry out strikes against Ukraine’s State Security Agency and ‘the 72nd Main Center for Information and Psychological Operations [PSO] in Kyiv,'” reported CNN.
The local 1+1 TV channel issued a statement that expressed that work will be done soon to attempt to restore the lost signal, as reported by local media. Various reports also revealed concerns stemming from the fact that the tower is directly next to the Babi Yar Holocaust Memorial Center. The site marks the massacres carried out by Nazi forces back in 1941.
It was expected to see Russian attacks targeting the various means of communication. This past Friday, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Digital Mykhailo Fedorov reached out to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk in efforts to procure the use of Starlink internet services in Ukraine.
“@elonmusk, while you try to colonize Mars — Russia try to occupy Ukraine! While your rockets successfully land from space — Russian rockets attack Ukrainian civil people! We ask you to provide Ukraine with Starlink stations and to address sane Russians to stand,” stated Fedorov in a tweet.
Just a few hours later Musk personally reached out with his response to the request.
“Starlink service is now active in Ukraine. More terminals en route,” exclaimed Musk.

“You are most welcome,” answered Musk.
