Reportedly, one 21-year-old woman out in Texas was shot and killed by an alleged friend after winning against him in a simple game of basketball.

As explained by the family of 21-year-old Asia Womack to various local news outlets, she was shot and killed at a local park by a friend. Womack, who was formerly the star of her high school basketball team, was shot and killed by the suspect in the wake of losing a pickup basketball game against her, they explained. Dallas police officials put out an arrest warrant for the suspect earlier this past week.

“On October 3, 2022, at approximately 7:40 p.m., Dallas Police were called to a shooting in the 4100 block of Hamilton Avenue,” expressed a statement from the Dallas Police Department via their website. “The preliminary investigation shows when officers arrived they found Asia Womack, 21, on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and took Womack to an area hospital where she died. The investigation is ongoing.”

DPD Crime Stoppers expressed to the local news outlets that they are putting up a $5,000 reward for any and all information that leads to the eventual arrest of the suspect.

As reported by Fox 4 Dallas, Womack was taking part in a game of pickup basketball alongside the shooter while at T.G. Terry Park, which is situated next to her home in South Dallas. The two had been talking trash throughout the game, and she reportedly teased the man after the game finished. Once they were done the shooter took his kids and brother home, and drove back out to the park, where he found and shot her a total of five times, explained the family. Surveillance cameras at a store near the court in question reportedly caught the man’s car fleeing the scene of the incident. The family stated that they know the suspect very well, but did not make his name public.

“This was supposed to be a friend of Asia’s. She’s eaten with the man,” stated Andrea Womack, the victim’s mother, to Fox 4. “She’s fed him, and he turned on her and killed her in a vicious way.”

“This is so senseless,” exclaimed Pastor John Delley of the Faith Tabernacle Church of God In Christ. “You become embarrassed basically because a female beat you in basketball.”

“My prayer is that justice be served,” concluded Delley. “That he is found or that he will give up or turn himself in.”
