Workers Vote To Unionize At Maryland Apple Store In Massive Blow To The Tech Giant

One Apple store out in Maryland took the title of the trillion-dollar tech titan’s very first outlet to officially unionize, in a slam against the woke company, which attempts to label itself as progressive but fought tooth and nail to stop these employees from organizing.

Workers out of the Towson store, located just on the outskirts of Baltimore, officially voted 65-33 in favor of joining the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

Many experts think that this choice could help encourage even more workers for apple to join up with Big labor.

“We did it Towson! We won our union vote! Thanks to all who worked so hard and all who supported!” stated the organizers out in Towson via a tweet.

The vote still needs to be officially certified by the National Labor Relations. Once that takes place, Apple will be forced to start to bargain with the union concerning wages and working conditions.

The effort to try and organize workers at the store prompted heavy resistance from the industry titan out in Cupertino, California. Apple’s head of HR and retail, Deirdre O’Brien, took a tour of the location back in May, as reported by CNBC. She wanted to, in a recorded message, try and dissuade the employees from taking part in the unions, claiming that unions are not at all committed ot the employees of the company.

Workers stated that they are seeking higher wages and more power in decisions about working conditions, including the COVID safety measures and policies.

“We are the Specialists, the Experts, the Geniuses, the Pros, the Creatives, and the Leads,” stated the Towson organizers via a written letter that was addressed just last month to the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook. “We strive to leave the world better than we found it and transform the lives of everyone we interact with, both our customers and team members. To help dreamers become doers.”

“To be clear, the decision to form a union is about us as workers gaining access to rights that we do not currently have,” stated the letter in conclusion.

The store out in Towson could be just a signal flare going off for Apple. Additionally, two other massive New York stores have also taken steps to unionize. A store in Atlanta was also slated to vote on possibly joining Communication Workers of America earlier this month, but the vote was postponed by the union in the wake of claiming that Apple intimidated its employees.

As reported by NBC News, stores in Louisville, Kentucky, and Nashville, Tennessee, are also in the process of organizing.
