This past Tuesday, in what has been called the most horrific terror attack on Israeli civilians in the past six years, an Arab terrorist attacked and murdered four people while wounding many others in Beersheba.
Israeli police officials have stated that the attacker in this event was one 34-year-old Mohammad Ghaleb Abu al-Qi’an, an Arab Israeli citizen who held residence in Hura, a Bedouin Arab town, and had already carried out a four-year prison sentence for planning to leave and join ISIS in Syria and was released in 2019. Police officials stated that the suspect stabbed one woman, aged 40, at a gas station, then drove his car through a cyclist, then left the vehicle and moved through a BIG shopping center, stabbing several more people along the way.
Magen David Adom claimed, “At 4:15 p.m. MDA’s Negev hotline received a report regarding a number of wounded on Derech Hevron and Yitzhak Nafha Street in Be’er Sheva. MDA paramedics are at the scene providing medical treatment to a number of people suffering various levels of injury, including serious. MDA paramedics at the scene are declaring the death of a woman aged about 40 and evacuating to Soroka Medical Center three victims, including a man of about 60 and a woman of about 35 in critical condition, and a woman of about 40 in moderate condition,” stated Israel National News in its report.
“The terrorist was confronted by an armed bus driver, who attempted to get him to lower his weapon, footage from the scene showed. The attacker lunged at the driver, who shot him several times alongside a second armed Israeli civilian. Israeli first responders reported that the stabber died from his gunshot wounds,” reported The Times of Israel.
The 40-year-old woman passed away at the scene of the attack, the cyclist and a pair of the stabbing victims perished at the Soroka Medical Center. The remaining two victims of the assault were brought to the hospital in serious condition and, as of writing, remain there in stable condition.
“The Hamas terror group praised the stabbing attack, saying it ‘salutes the executor of the heroic operation in occupied Beersheba,’” highlighted The Times Of Israel. Abd al-Latif al-Qanou, a spokesperson for Hamas, stated, “The occupation’s crimes shall be met with heroic operations: stabbings, rammings and shootings.”
Officials from the Soroka Medical Center stated, “In the trauma room at the Soroka Center for Emergency Medicine we are now treating two women from the Be’er Sheva stabbing attack. Both of them are considered to be in serious condition and suffer stab wounds to their backs. The trauma room staff is prepared with reinforcements to provide solutions for others who were injured, if such people arrive.”
Dr. Dan Schwarzfuchs, the Soroka Deputy Director, exclaimed, “We received a notice of an incident with a large number of victims. People came to us with very serious wounds. One arrived lifeless, and two others in critical condition. We did everything we could, but we did not succeed.”
